Welcome to ErinBaileyBoyes.com! What's New... December 2010 2010 was a busy year for me with seven fitness contests, four of which took place during a 3-week span in late October and early November. I felt like I was in the best shape of my life for those competitions and was rewarded for my hard work with some good results. At the SAF Elite Challenge in Ottawa, I placed 2nd, which qualified me for the Elite Championship later that day, where I placed 3rd. At the IDFA Ottawa-Gatineau Classic on the same weekend, I placed 3rd in Open Fitness Model. One of the prizes for the SAF results was a photo shoot with Paul Buceta (www.paulbuceta.com), one of the world’s most renowned photographers. Paul has done countless covers for Oxygen, MuscleMag, Playboy, Penthouse, Maxim and other well-known magazines. It has been a dream of mine for a long time to do a shoot with him and I am very grateful to Doug Schneider of SAF for making this possible. When I first showed up at Paul’s studio, I was a little intimidated and didn’t know what to expect, but he made me feel very relaxed and the whole day was an amazing experience! At the Fitness Star Model Search in Toronto the following weekend, I placed 1st in the Level 5 Superstar Pro Category. In addition to winning $1,000 cash and some prizes, I won a photo shoot with Paul Dipp of Delicious Imagery (www.deliciousimagery.com), which I just completed two days ago. Paul is one of the most creative photographers I have ever met and I would highly recommend him if you are looking to do some photos. He does wedding photography as well as model work. I also was awarded a cover on the Winter 2011 edition of Fitness Star magazine. My cover photo shoot is scheduled for January with Richard Sibbald from the popular tv show “Look-a-like”. Stay tuned for the cover in a few months on the Media page. The third weekend of my competition marathon was spent at the UFE National Championships in Hamilton. UFE shows are truly becoming premier fitness events. I entered both the Bikini category, which had 22 very high-level competitors, and the Fitness Model category, which had 28 elite competitors. I placed 6th in Bikini and 4th in Fitness Model. I have to admit that I was pretty bummed out about the results for a few days afterwards. Even though the level of competition is very high at this event and those results are quite good, I am very competitive and really like taking home a trophy for placing in the top 3. When you don’t do as well as you hope or expect, you can sometimes fall into a state of depression, especially after having trained your butt off for at least 3 months. You feel like you deserve to be rewarded for your hard work. But to go anywhere in this industry, you have to learn to be gracious in defeat. Rather than getting bitter about it, use it as motivation to get even better and show up at the next contest in such good shape that the judges won’t have a choice but to give you the trophy! It took me a few days to get there, but now I’m feeling good about my results and I’m looking forward to my next UFE event. With competition season over, I’ve already started to relax my diet a bit, but I can’t go too crazy with the Fitness Star shoot coming up in the new year. I’m looking forward to going south for two weeks in late January. As for competition plans in 2011, my husband and I are considering starting a family and depending on what happens in that department, I may or may not be in shape to compete! I’ll keep you posted! Thanks for your support. xo
